Ahn Byung-young is chosen as the new deputy prime minister. President Roh Moo-hyun has named Yonsei University professor Ahn Byung-young as his new deputy prime minister and education and human resources development minister. The 62-year-old Ahn will replace Yoon Deok-hong, who resigned over a controversy surrounding the introduction of the National Education Information System, a database for consolidating students’ personal information. President Roh reportedly selected professor Ahn for his experience as education minister for one and a half years starting in December 1995.
