President Roh would quit his post if his aides were found to have taken illegal funds during presidential election campaign. President Roh Moo-hyun said he would quit without any referendum on his ruling mandate if his aides were found to have taken one tenth of the amount of the political slush funds taken by the Grand National Party, the main opposition group, during last year’s presidential election campaign. Yonhap News Agency reports major opposition parties and civic groups were expressing dissatisfaction with Roh’s stance, demanding Roh reveal truth about funds taken by his aides. The president said he was ready to undergo interrogation on the alleged slush fund cases involving his close aides if he is asked to do that for the purpose of investigation. Roh also said he will be willing to accept any bill on the introduction of a special counsel to look into funds collected during the presidential election campaign late last year.
